As the East of England's specialist centre for art and design education, Norwich School of Art and Design has an international reputation for excellence.
Situated alongside the River Wensum in the historic quarter of the city centre, the School is housed in a mixture of buildings including medieval, Edwardian and Victorian. We offer a wide range of courses from Foundation degrees right through to PhD, and the curriculum continues to broaden and expand.
International links enrich the School
and offer a broader perspective to
both students and staff. Most
teaching staff are designers, crafts
people and writers.
A dynamic creative community
in the centre of Norwich
The School is a place of ideas
and innovation and students are
encouraged to question
assumptions and challenge
existing boundaries of practice.
Our graduates have every
opportunity to become confident
and independent practitioners in
their chosen field of the visual
arts and design.
"The college itself has a strong
sense of its heritage while
keeping abreast of all current
developments in contemporary
practice in art and design."
Dan Tombs, Former SU president
All our undergraduate students take part in Critical Studies programmes as an integral component of their course. This gives you the opportunity to explore studio disciplines within historical and critical contexts, as part of our aim to prepare you with a broad, questioning and informed approach to contemporary creative practices. The weekly Critical Studies workshop meetings offer a forum for discussing issues, concepts and specific examples of both contemporary and past creative work. Open, lively debate is strongly encouraged, and your participation in Critical Studies is considered essential to the growth and development of a your independent and critical judgement.
