Aim Higher ... Norfolk
The Learning Shop is linked to the
Norfolk AimHigher project which aims to
encourages young people and adults
from non-traditional backgrounds to gain
an experience of Higher Education.
The Learning Shop role in AimHigher
Norfolk is to:
- Provide one to one support and
guidance especially for people
who
are over 20.
The project has allowed us to
- increase
our advice and guidance capacity
by
seconding staff from Norfolk
Guidance Services and the Open
University
- We have set up links with the
Cromer
PPF project and set up an advice
desk
in libraries in King's Lynn to
provide
IAG for people not eligible for help
through other services such as
NextStep or Connexions.
- Staff Development to advisers,
community workers, teachers, etc.
Seminars have been run through
NextStep at King's Lynn, Norwich
and
Gt Yarmouth to update advisers on
funding, applications, courses
including
Foundation Degrees
- Raise awareness of the variety
and
modes of the HE offer across
Norfolk
- W e have produced a cross county
magazine of HE provision which is
being distributed to schools,
libraries,
Connexions Advisers and advice
organisations
All AimHigher advice sessions are
followed up to support the clients and
evaluate the service provided.
